Should you incorporate blogging in your teaching? Here are some links to Youth Voices, a blogging community of students and their teachers from around the country.

On your own blog, write a post that:

• makes a link to Nichole’s post
• comments on what skills/knowledge are evident in the post and in the comments about her post
• reflects on why or why not you would consider using blogs in your teaching

Here’s a picture by Gafoto.  It’s important that we show our students how to use Creative Commons images and that they learn how to link to those photographers.

Here’s a link to an Edublogs User Manual by Gail Desler of Area 3 Writing Project in California. Using Gail’s instructions as our guide, let’s:

• add a link in the blogroll (this could be where you have student blogs)
• add an image and format that image. Use a Creative Commons image please.
• learn to monitor our blog (for instance, so that no inappropriate comments are posted)
• comment on someone else’s blog in this class and approve the comments others make
• add users to your blog and set their permissions
